Where: Walking Home for Christmas This December, cadets and adult volunteers from the Army Cadet Force will be taking part in a special sponsored walk — Walking Home for Christmas — to raise funds and awareness for our young people. Starting Point: Army Reserve Centre Mitcham Road Croydon End Point: Wellington Barracks Distance: Approximately 10.3 miles Estimated Walking Time: Around 3 hours 30 minutes Over 30 cadets and staff will step out together on this festive journey from Croydon to the heart of London. For many of our cadets, aged between 12 and 17 years old, this will be their first ever long-distance walk. Some have never even walked from one bus stop to another or from home to the shops — so completing 10 miles on a cold, dark December day will be a challenge they will remember for the rest of their lives. The walk will finish in true ceremonial style: the cadets will be marched in from Horse Guards Parade to Wellington Barracks by the Welsh Guards Corps of Drums, a moment of pride and tradition marking their accomplishment. By donating, you will be supporting our cadets as they continue to build confidence, resilience, leadership, and life skills through the Army Cadet Force.
