Where: Walking Home for Christmas This December, cadets and adult volunteers from the Army Cadet Force will take on a special challenge — a sponsored walk called Walking Home for Christmas — to raise funds and awareness for young people. Starting Point: Army Reserve Centre, Mitcham Road, Croydon Finish Line: Wellington Barracks Distance: ~10.3 miles Estimated Time: 3 hours 30 minutes Over 30 cadets and staff will set out together on this festive journey from Croydon into the heart of London. For many of our cadets, aged 12 to 17, it will be their very first long-distance walk. Some have never even walked further than the local shops or bus stop — making 10 miles on a cold December evening a true test of determination and resilience. The walk will conclude in ceremonial style, as the cadets are proudly marched into Wellington Barracks from Horse Guards Parade by the Welsh Guards Corps of Drums — a moment of achievement they will never forget. By donating, you’ll be supporting our cadets as they continue to grow in confidence, resilience, leadership, and essential life skills through the Army Cadet Force. Every step they take represents progress — and every pound you give helps create opportunities that shape their future. Thank you for being part of our Walking Home for Christmas appeal.
